UNH Advances To Northeast Regional Final With Win Over UConn!

Junior Defensemen Chad Lafond netted his first goal of the season vs UCpnn.
UNH will play at 7:00pm tonight vs CCSU for a chance to play in the national championship tournament.UNH advanced to the Northeast Regional final last night after beating #7 UConn 3-2.
UNH started the scoring early in the first period. Freshman Kyle Vandemore took a shot on net and the rebound bounced out to defenseman Chad Lafond who buried his first goal of his career at UNH to give the wildcats the early 1-0 lead. UConn would respond late in the period on the powerplay to tie the game 1-1 going into the lockerroom.
In the second, UNH found itself on the powerplay early in the period. Freshman Mike Young wheeled the puck out of the corner and fired a slap shot that beat the UConn goalie, giving UNH the 2-1 lead. UConn would once again add a late powerplay goal to tie the game 2-2 after two periods of play.
The third period saw a lot of good scoring chances for both teams. UNH would be put on the powerplay mid way through the period. Shane Morin set up Steve Giangulio with a nice pass out of the corner and Gianguilio fired home the shot to give UNH the eventual game winner.
UNH is set to play #5 Central Connecticut State University tonight at 7:00pm in Danbury, CT. CCSU holds a 2\-0 record vs the wildcats this year, winning the games by scores of 4-2 and 8-4. The winner will advance to the National Championship Tournament held in Simsbury, CT begining March 17th.
